I moved to Paris two and a half months ago for my Master’s. And, this city continues to surprise me with its beauty.

Palais Royal has been by far one of my most favorite places to visit in the short time I’ve lived in Paris. Something about it just brings peace to my soul.

To the beauty within us and all the beautiful things that make us feel beautiful, you are seen and heard and much appreciated.

Two words ring in my ears, What for? What for? Wha

Two words ring in my ears,
What for? What for? What for?

Before me a precious child holds
the hands of his mother and all I can think is:

Everyone lives and everyone dies.
So, why do we do the things that we do?

I look at myself in the mirror,
and I cannot recognize myself anymore.

Who is she? I see me,
but she does not feel familiar.

The things that mattered no longer do.
What for? What for? What for?

Why does it matter to live?
Why does it matter so much?

I walk in the streets of Voltaire
There the people are calm and pure.

They’re happy to live in today,
A today that never really ends.

And, I cannot seem to answer:
What for? What for? What for?

As we live and love, one thing becomes very clear.

As we live and love, one thing becomes very clear. How we feel matters. You and I could attain any milestone that is possible, and yet, life would still feel incomplete without attention on how we feel.

People I’ve met yesterday can make me feel how amazing it is to be alive. But, it is also people I’ve left yesterday that make life seem dull without them.

The longing is the bridge between the two. Feelings are the bridge between life and lifeless, and most of our life goes in service to bridging the big gap for what is and what isn’t.

I do wish it was easier to feel how we feel and let it have a place in our lives. But, perhaps the hardships of accepting our feelings is what develops our true nature, without any internal and external interference.

I’ve found an answer to a long-standing question of mine. When does the pain end?

The longing and the pain will end when the gap has been bridged. Fully. That’s when.

Lost in my own world. In this world, I get to watch the seasons change leisurely. The repose allows me to absorb the nuances of summer parting from us as October arrives. At what point the summer leaves become marked with autumn’s fervor? The trees have always been so loved by the seasons. And, love?

Love only knows how to bring more color into your life from within. Yet, there is no point in which summer became autumn. The changing of the seasons has always been gradual, just like falling in love.

Something I’ve actually never told anyone before

Something I’ve actually never told anyone before – I write about grief a lot because it’s something I can never run away from. Wherever I go, it’s always there. I have made a friend out of the emotion that is as close to grief and longing but still isn’t either. Nor is it sadness or depression, I truly wish I could define it more.

There was a time that I would call it a “void”, but it isn’t that either. This feeling leaves you so full at times and otherwise so drained.

This is Letter Twenty-Two where I do not know why I feel this way.

Every time I see you cry, I’m reminded of how wh

Every time I see you cry, I’m reminded of how what is broken will never be fixed. It will remain broken forever because there is nothing that can make glass as strong as it used to be before it broke. The glass will be weaker even if you decide to glue all the pieces together. That is what happens when you treat something as fragile as glass with carelessness.

What is broken will stay broken. Some people live their entire lives in broken relationships, friendships, and identities of themselves. They live and live tending to that glass, trying everything in their power to make it stronger. Their sole purpose in life becomes to repair the destruction they yearn could be what it used to be.

I don’t want to live like that. I refuse to do exactly that which I have seen everyone around me do. Life is too precious to spend at unmet potential.

So, I choose to let go of all that is broken in my life because I will not spend any more time trying to repair what is broken. And, for what?

It will always remain broken.

We all have nights that seemingly never end. No ma

We all have nights that seemingly never end. No matter how much you wish they do, it stays dark out. You look outside your window for hours and hope to see the spawning of dawn, but the sun is nowhere to be found.

In those nights, I have passed through multiple versions of myself that I am no longer. Ones I’ve perhaps abandoned and grown out of and others I’ve healed from. You get lost in your own world for a while.

And, that’s when you see it. The sun rises before you while it all makes sense why the night had to be so long.

It was only so you could feel more alive.

You realize the thing you wanted for such a long t

You realize the thing you wanted for such a long time, thinking it’d be easier — actually isn’t. It’s much harder and filled with grief. The kind that stares in your face through the night. The kind that whispers in your ear through the spaces of silence in the day.

I haven’t been writing much lately. And, it’s because I cannot fathom facing the grief that won’t settle. I look at new faces everyday, and yet the one of grief is the only one that feels like home.

Maybe I can project my feelings onto grief, or maybe the problem is me. Grief holds on so tightly and I’ve nearly forgotten the difference between love and fear.

If love is uncomfortable, then maybe it is meant to be feared. Maybe grief is meant to consume every fiber of my existence. To the confused faces reading this, know that grief is not synonymous with hopelessness.

Hopelessness would signify an end to the pain, to the highs and lows whilst grief is the exaggeration of everything in between. It is not “arguably” an end, but it is the pure acceptance of life’s sweetness that has grown absent.

Darkness obliges to your every whim. It never says

Darkness obliges to your every whim. It never says no to an experience you feel you must have. It always knows when you are having trouble perceiving reality with balance, and it does nothing to help you clear the imbalances.

The black of the night deepens with each passing second my gaze holds onto its formlessness. That’s what the moment of losing yourself to emptiness must feel like. Everything around you grays into an obscurity that has no end.

But, what I’ve always gotten wrong is the fact that darkness doesn’t do anything to pull you into illusion. We learn to do that ourselves entirely. Even then, nothing meant for us will ever pass by. What is meant to be will be.

Ensuring such is not the light’s responsibility either. The light only guides. It is you and I who choose to follow the path illuminated. Just as we choose the darkness to fulfill our desires, we will choose the light for our transcendence.

Being so disconnected from the world below shows you that life really is about being connected to others through our hearts and our minds. It is a complete dissonance that brings you back to life because nothing else makes you gasp for connectivity than the seclusion of it.

I want to put this out there in the universe that it is okay to want connection in your life that makes life more joyful to experience. I want that myself. And if you’re here reading this now, chances are you want that too.

This is for the ones who wish to be alone but crave anything but that. This is for the ones who settle for silence because they cannot imagine a world filled with love and happiness.

Each time your heart breaks, know that it’s not

Each time your heart breaks, know that it’s not breaking to stay broken. Your heart breaks in the expansion of the new world you continue choosing to live in. This world is the result of all your healing and love — somehow abundant and somehow limitless.

If you continue to focus all your energy on the pain of your broken heart, there really is no way forward. Yes, feel all your feelings, but there does come a time where you do become ready to take a leap into the unknown, away from your broken and into neutral territory. If you’re not at this point, you’ll know. If you’re at this point, it’ll be a peaceful transition.

Sadness. How do you manage it?

The way I manage my sadness is I write. I know it’s quite obvious. But, it’s true. There’s no way this account and my two books would have existed if I didn’t pour my sadness into them.

Writing gave me a safe space to express myself when internalizing my pain was no longer an option. Which is needless to say that it wasn’t sustainable. Writing is a tool you can use to manage your emotions, but it can not fix all your problems for you. *As I learned the hard way.*

The way I manage my sadness now is I sit with it. Sadness breathes life into me and I let it stir all the pain compressed in me. After understanding that sadness is only here to help me heal, I don’t fight it anymore. I work with it. It’s incredibly painful to admit this initially and it takes the endurance of the back and forth of your sadness and your ego clashing with each other to see with clarity.

Just sit with it. Yes, you can have outlets for your emotions whether that is being active and/or creative, but all your emotions ask of you is to feel them. Feel them so they can finally be released.

Our bodies house everything we are cannot let go of. Every. Thing. Years later, you might have forgotten what caused the pain you suppressed, but your body will not forget. It will remember everything.

The next time you feel sad take some time to just sit and feel. No restrictions. No pressure. No limitations. No forcing yourself to get over it. Just feel. Start with 10 minutes and see what it brings out of you. See how you feel afterwards.

There are certain people that you’ll never forge

There are certain people that you’ll never forget in your life. They leave an imprint on you and become your underlying inspiration for everything you do.

It’s beyond their gait and how they carry themselves. It’s their determination to keep going despite their pain from the brokenness within them. What I find beautiful in them is how they are unsatisfied with broken being their destiny.

It’s the same brokenness that I recognize that somehow somewhere feels like home. It becomes an endless supply of motivation to be stern about what you will accept life to be like.
